#6: The Phyllis Diller Show (2002)

In 1966, ABC sought to capitalize on Phyllis Diller’s comedic talent by casting her in “The Pruitts of Southampton,” a sitcom based on Patrick Dennis’s novel House Party. The series portrayed the Pruitt family, once wealthy socialites now secretly bankrupt, striving to maintain their affluent image to prevent economic turmoil.

Despite rebranding to “The Phyllis Diller Show” mid-season and introducing new characters, the series struggled with low ratings and was canceled after one season, totaling 30 episodes. In 2002, TV Guide placed it on its list of “50 Worst TV Shows of All Time.”
