#13: Father of the Pride (2004)

“Father of the Pride,” an animated sitcom produced by DreamWorks Animation, premiered on NBC in August 2004. The series centered on a family of white lions performing in Las Vegas with illusionists Siegfried & Roy. Despite its high production costs—each episode requiring $1.6 million and nine months to produce—the show faced immediate challenges.

Critics described it as “an uneasy mix of crude and cuddly,” and it struggled to find its audience. Compounding its difficulties, the series debuted less than a year after Roy Horn’s near-fatal tiger incident in October 2003, leading to questions about its timing and sensitivity.
