#22: Life with Lucy (1986)
“Life with Lucy” was Lucille Ball’s final television series, airing on ABC from September to November 1986. In this sitcom, Ball portrayed Lucy Barker, a widowed grandmother who inherits her late husband’s half-interest in a hardware store, co-owned with his business partner, Curtis McGibbon, played by Gale Gordon.
Despite reuniting with familiar collaborators, the show struggled with low ratings and negative reviews, leading to its cancellation after eight episodes. The Washington Post humorously suggested that reruns of the series could be used to “torture KGB agents and drug smugglers.”
