Checking the basement

Unconvinced by what the cameras showed, John decided to examine the basement himself. With a flashlight in hand, he carefully descended the old wooden steps, Max close behind.

He searched thoroughly, shifting boxes and inspecting every nook for signs of an intruder or anything unusual. “Doesn’t look like anything’s wrong,” he said aloud, though Max stayed alert, tail stiff and eyes darting.

John sighed in frustration, the lack of answers only deepening his concern.
