Emily feels the weight
Emily was feeling the emotional toll. Max’s clinginess left her mentally and physically exhausted. Her daily routines became draining, constantly interrupted to calm the anxious dog.
“He’s not the same,” she confided to John one evening, her voice weary. Max’s constant watchfulness was exhausting.
She couldn’t even remember the last time she’d had a restful night. “I just want things to be normal again,” she said quietly, the fatigue plain in her voice.
John reached out and took her hand. “We’ll figure it out,” he assured her.
They sat together on the couch, Max curled at their feet, alert as ever.
“I know this is tough,” John added gently, “but we’ll get through it.” Emily nodded, but the weight in her eyes remained. Though the future felt uncertain, they drew strength from facing it together.
