Haunted House Projector
Marketed in the 1960s, this toy allowed children to project haunted house images onto walls using slides and a light bulb. The problem? Many of the slides featured terrifying scenes—decapitated ghosts, blood-dripping portraits, and eerie soundtracks when paired with a record player.
Parents complained that their children had nightmares after using the projector, with some refusing to sleep in the same room afterward. What was supposed to be spooky fun turned into late-night horror sessions. It may have inspired future horror buffs, but for most kids, it was an early introduction to lifelong clown and ghost phobias.
