Swing Wing
The Swing Wing, launched in 1965, was a headband toy with plastic propeller blades that spun when the wearer violently jerked their head from side to side. Advertised as fun and exhilarating, it actually looked like a neck injury waiting to happen.
Kids wearing it risked serious whiplash, and the rapid spinning blades could cause minor injuries or even hit others nearby. Medical professionals would have banned it instantly today, but back then it was sold with zero safety warnings. Thankfully, the Swing Wing disappeared fast—likely because parents weren’t keen on their kids needing chiropractic care after playtime.
