Monteverde Rainforest Bridge (Costa Rica)

Located in the Monteverde rainforest in Costa Rica is a suspension bridge that’s seriously sketchy. When you think of a safe bridge, you usually picture solid footing thanks to wooden planks or metal, but the Monteverde Rainforest Bridge just has what looks like haphazardly placed wooden planks with gaps about the size of your foot. So you can see straight down, and some of the planks are rotten and broken. Basically, it’s not maintained, so other planks could fall off too.

To begin with, the ropes themselves look flimsy, like they could barely hold the weight of a child. And on top of that, the Monteverde rainforest is home to lots of creatures that are dangerous to humans, like jaguars and snakes. Is it just me, or is the thought of falling even scarier than the bridge itself?
