Basin
Ever since the discovery of gas, we’ve harnessed its energy to power things like cars and airplanes. Airplanes are incredibly convenient for long journeys, but even these flying marvels will eventually reach the end of their service life. So, where do airplanes go after that?
Retired airplanes are sent to “boneyards.” There are many boneyards around the world, but the largest is located in Tucson, Arizona, holding around 4,000 aircraft. These planes aren’t immediately scrapped; parts are often removed and reused. While the shells of these retired planes might look a little forlorn, the sight of the boneyard is grand and impressive.
