Fun with Shadows
Before movie theaters and streaming became widespread, and even before electricity was readily available, people shared stories and discovered art forms like shadow play. Shadow play involves projecting the silhouettes of people or objects placed between a light source and a screen, serving as a way to tell stories.
Beyond just theatrical performances, photographers have also used this technique to create experimental works. For example, a photo using the shadows of a couple walking along the beach with their pet initially looks like an aerial shot, but you’ll realize the technique after a few seconds. There are other works using shadows, but this method is consistently pleasing to the eye and intriguing.
